ACDB Welcomes High-Level Delegation from BUAN

 

The African Centre for DNA Barcoding and the Department of Botany and Plant Biotechnology at the University of Johannesburg proudly hosted a high-level delegation from the Botswana University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (BUAN) on Thursday, 31 March 2022. The delegation, comprised of the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Dean: Research and Graduate Studies and Manager: Research Development and Outreach. The delegation was met by the core ACDB staff compliment for a tour of the facilities, overviews of key projects and discussions around the success of DNA barcoding in tackling issues concerning biodiversity sciences, wildlife crime and invasive alien species. Being a benchmark visit, discussions surrounding possibilities of future collaborations were outlined and the potential of expanding the DNA barcoding footprint into the country of Botswana and beyond.
