Excursion Day One: Flower Power
After a much-anticipated flight, a first for most, Cape Town greeted us with warm weather and a light breeze. With the picturesque Table Mountain in the background, we snapped a few photographs before excitedly boarded the bus. Upon our arrival at Tienie Versfeld Wildflower Reserve in Darling, we split into smaller groups to sight and document the different flowers that grow in the area – flower power at its best with bugs all around!
Our first adventure now behind us, we took a breather and explored the Western Cape’s many tourist attractions. Like typical Gautengers we were eager to visit the sea. After stopping at Blouberg Beach in Cape Town for lunch, we then embraced the sandy shores and a refreshing dip in the Atlantic Ocean. Wet and tired – but thrilled to be finally be on our long-awaited excursion – we headed to Forty 8 Backpackers Hotel to retire for the night.
